Huawei has launched the much-rumored Honor 8 smartphone in China. The smartphone comes in three variants, with prices starting from CNY 1,999 (Rs 20,000 approximately). While it comes with features like fingerprint scanner among others, the talking point is the dual-camera setup at the back, which is in line with earlier leaks. The Honor 8 will be available in China from July 19, but there’s currently no word on a launch in other markets. Honor 8 price: The 32GB variant of the Honor 8 features 3GB of RAM and is priced at CNY 1,999 (Rs 20,000 approximately). The 32GB variant with 4GB of RAM is priced at CNY 2,299 (Rs 23,000 approximately), and lastly the 64GB variant with 4GB RAM is priced at CNY 2,499 (Rs 25,000 approximately).
Honor 8 specifications and features: The Honor 8 features a 5.2-inch full HD (1080p) display, and is powered by a 1.8GHz Kirin 950 octa-core processor. There is also a microSD card slot to further expand the internal memory.
The highlight of the smartphone is the pair of 12-megapixel cameras at the back with f/2.2 aperture, laser auto-focus and 1.76-micron pixel size, which promises good quality photos even in low light conditions. The setup is quite similar to what you get on Huawei’s flagship P9 smartphone. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.4 aperture.
The rest of the features for the Honor 8 include a fingerprint scanner placed at the back, 3,000mAh battery, and connectivity options like dual-SIM cards (hybrid setup), 4G LTE support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a USB-Type C port. On the software front, it runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 wrapped under Huawei s EMUI 4.1.
The Honor 8 s specifications and features are pretty similar to Huawei s flagship P9 smartphone which is priced at a whooping amount of Rs 42,000 approximately. Huawei had launched the affordable Honor 5C in India last month and the Honor 8 will hopefully hit the other markets soon enough.
