Honor 8X, 8X Max launched in China: Price, specifications, features

Both new Honor smartphones feature full-screen displays with a notch at the top.

As expected, Honor launched two new smartphones in China. The Honor 8X and the Honor 8X Max are two upper mid-range devices, which are slated to go on sale later this month.

Honor 8X, Honor 8X Max prices

The Honor 8X will be available in three variants. The base model with 64GB storage and 4GB RAM is priced at RMB 1,399 (approximately Rs 14,700). The mid variant with 64GB storage and 6GB RAM is priced at RMB 1,599 (approximately Rs 16,800). The top variant with 128GB storage and 6GB RAM is priced at RMB 1,899 (approximately Rs 20,000). The smartphone is currently up for pre-orders, and will be going on sale from September 11.

The Honor 8X Max, on the other hand, will come in two variants. The base model with 64GB storage is priced at RMB 1,499 (approximately Rs 15,700). The top variant with 128GB storage is priced at RMB 1,799 (approximately Rs 19,000). The device is currently up for pre-orders.

Honor 8X specifications, features

As far as specifications are concerned, the Honor 8X flaunts a 6.5-inch FHD+ TFT IPS display with 18.7:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is a HiSilicon Kirin 710 octa-core, and a 3,750mAh battery with fast charging capabilities.

For photography, there is a dual-camera setup (20-megapixel + 2-megapixel) at the back. Up front is a 16-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. Other features include triple card slots, fingerprint sensor, and connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS/ A-GPS. On the software front, the device runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based EMUI 8.2.0.

Honor 8X Max specifications, features

The Honor 8X Max, as the name suggests, is the bigger of the two new devices. It flaunts a massive 7.12-inch FHD+ TFT IPS display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM. There is also a variant with Snapdragon 660 chipset and 6GB RAM that will be arriving later in October.

For photography, the phablet features a dual-camera setup (16-megapixel + 2-megapixel) at the back. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel snapper with f/2.0 aperture for selfies. Making sure everything ticks is a 5,000mAh battery, and there is also a fingerprint sensor for security. The device also comes with the usual bevy of connectivity options, and it runs Android 8.1 Oreo wrapped under EMUI 8.2.0.
