Honor 9 Lite was announced in India back in February this year. The handset was launched running Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. But recently, it was spotted on Geekbench with Android 9 Pie OS onboard, which is a hint towards an imminent roll out. In the meantime though, Honor is rolling out a new update for the Honor 9 Lite.

A Reddit user has shared a screenshot of an upcoming EMUI update that brings some new improvements like gesture-based navigation, GIF effects for camera, and the latest Android security patch. The latest software update for Honor 9 Lite brings navigation gestures like the ones found on high-end phones like Honor 10. With this update, users can swipe up from the button to access Home screen and swiping right from the left edge can be done to go Back. For accessing recent apps, one can swipe and hold from the bottom of the display. Lastly, Google Assistant can be accessed by swiping upwards from the bottom corner.

After installing the update will bring fun GIF effects and text stickers which can be access through the AR lens mode in the Camera app. The update also enhances the launch time of major apps. With screen recording feature, users can select desired source from options like microphone, system or none. Lastly, the update includes November system security patch released by Google. The new EMUI update rollout may begin soon.
