Since earlier this week, Honor has been teasing its second quad-camera smartphone’s arrival to the Indian market. The company teased the four cameras on-board, the glass unibody design, and the estimated launch by the month-end. However, today, Honor has revealed a little more significant details about the device. The company has announced that the teased smartphone is the Honor 9 Lite, and it will sell in India exclusively on Flipkart.
The Honor 9 Lite was first launched in China in December 2017. Just like the Honor 9i, along with the fact that it sports dual-camera setups at the back and front, the Honor 9 Lite’s USP is an 18:9 IPS display, and that it runs Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box.
In China, the Honor 9 Lite was launched in three variants – 32GB variants with 3GB and 4GB RAM, and a 64GB variant with 4GB of RAM. In terms of pricing, the base variant was priced at RMB 1,199 (Rs 11,700 approximately), the 4GB RAM model is priced at RMB 1,499 (Rs 15,600 approximately), and the 64GB storage variant will retail at RMB 1,799 (Rs 17,500 approximately).
Honor 9 Lite specifications and features
Since the device has already been launched in China, we know that the Honor 9 Lite sports a 5.65-inch full-HD+ with 1080×2160 resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, it is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC clocked at 2.36GHz. As for camera, it comes with dual-camera setups at the back as well as the front, with a combination of 13-megapixel primary sensor, and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The rear camera comes with PDAF autofocus and LED flash.
Fueling the device is a 3,000mAh battery, which Honor claims can deliver up to 20 hours of talktime on 3G, and a standby time of up to 24 days. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and micro-USB with OTG support. On the software front, the phone runs EMUI 8.0, based on Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box.
