Huawei’s sub-brand Honor launched its 9i smartphone yesterday in India. The smartphone draws attention as it houses a total of four cameras with two each on the front and at the rear. The Honor 9i also stands out as the company’s first smartphone with a full view display. With the specifications and features it offers, the Honor 9i will face tough competition from smartphones in the same price category. Speaking about competition, the Honor 9i will go against the Xiaomi Mi A1, Nokia 6, and the Moto G5S Plus. All four smartphones fall in the same price category, and come with a similar set of specifications. For a clearer idea, here’s a detailed comparison between all four smartphones based on their price, specifications and features.
The Honor 9i is priced at Rs 17,999 which makes it the most expensive of the lot. The Xiaomi Mi A1 and Nokia 6 both retail the lowest at Rs 14,999. Motorola’s Moto G5S Plus stands in between with a price tag of Rs 15,999.
The Honor 9i has the biggest display here measuring 5.9-inches with a full HD+ resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio and a 2.5D curved glass on top. The smartphone doesn’t house a physical home button, with the display occupying almost the entire front panel. As for the Mi A1, Nokia 6, and Moto G5S Plus, all three smartphones feature a 5.5-inch full HD display.
Chipset, RAM and storage
The Honor 9i is powered by an in-house Kirin 659 octa-core processor clocked at 2.36GHz. Xiaomi’s Mi A1 and the Moto G5S Plus are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor. The Nokia 6, on the other hand, is powered by an older Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor. All three smartphones except for the Nokia 6, pack 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. This category speaks of the Honor 9i’s highlight with its four cameras. Up front, the smartphone houses a combination of 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The front cameras come with smart selfie tone flash which adjusts the amount of light needed while capturing photos. At the rear, the Honor 9i sports 16-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors. The Mi A1 also features dual cameras at the rear, which includes a pair of 12-megapixel cameras, out of which one is a wide-angle lens, and the other a telephoto lens. The smartphone sports a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Moto G5S Plus also joins the pack with a pair of 13-megapixel cameras at the rear. For selfies, it houses an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The Nokia 6 doesn’t follow the dual-camera trend, but comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera of aperture f/2.0, and an 8-megapixel front camera of f/2.0 aperture. In terms of battery, the Honor 9i houses a slightly bigger 3,340mAh battery in comparison to the rest of the three. Honor also promises seven hours of gaming on smartphone. Connectivity and OS
In terms of connectivity, all four smartphones offer dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. The smartphones differ on the software front. The Honor 9i runs Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1, while the Nokia 6 and Moto G5S Plus both run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. The Mi A1 seems a clear winner here as it runs stock Android 7.1.2, courtesy of Google’s Android One project.
