Apart from the Honor Play and new Honor 9i smartphones that were launched yesterday, the Huawei-owned brand Honor has also launched a new pair of headphones that come with a unique feature built in. The Honor Clear headset, which is priced at RMB 129 (approximately Rs 1,300), is a wired in-ear option that comes with a built-in heart rate sensor. According to FoneArena, the headphones can also train you to relax by analyzing your stress levels through heart-rate variability algorithms, and then provide appropriate feedback. The headset is also certified for high-resolution audio playback, which means that it will support a larger frequency response range going up to 40,000Hz. The headset has an optical heart-rate sensor on the right earbud, which can detect your heart rate when in your ear. The functionality will work using the Huawei Health app on any Android smartphone, with the headphones linking with the smartphone and providing the heart-rate information there. Naturally, you would have to have the headset on for the functionality to work, and it isn’t clear what form of communication is being used to transfer the data to the app.

Heart-rate measuring aside, the Honor Clear headphones are wired, and will plug into the 3.5mm jack on compatible smartphones. There is also an in-line remote and microphone, along with additional ear tips and wings for choosing the right fit. For now, the headset will only be available in one color white and go on sale in China on June 7. The event also saw the launch of the Honor Play, a new gaming-focused smartphone powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC, and the new Honor 9i, which comes with a notched display.
