Huawei-owned Honor will be launching purple variants of two of its latest phones, the Honor Play and Honor 9i (2018). The Honor Play‘s color variant will be called Nebula Purple, while the Honor 9i (2018) will have a color option called dream purple. Both variants are expected to go on sale in China on July 2, and there’s no word currently on when these phones are due to launch in India.
The Honor Play is a gaming-focused smartphone powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC and 6GB of RAM. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.2 on top, and has a 1080×2340-pixel 19.5:9 IPS LCD notched screen. Apart from the high-end chipset and RAM, the phone is also set to feature Huawei’s GPU Turbo technology, which is said to boost performance by 60 percent while reducing battery consumption by 30 percent.
The Honor 9i (2018), which could be launched in India as the Honor 9X, was also launched in June like the Honor Play. The phone is a mid-range option powered by the Kirin 659 chipset, and comes with 4GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of storage. The phone has a 5.84 IPS-LCD notched full-HD+ screen, and a dual-camera setup at the back with a 13-megapixel primary sensor and 2-megapixel secondary sensor.

The nebula purple Honor Play is expected to be priced at RMB 1,999 (Rs 20,700 approximately) onwards, while the Honor 9i Dream Purple will be available for RMB 1,399 (Rs 14,450 approximately) onwards. The Honor Play could also eventually make it to India, but there is no firm word on when it will be launched. The flagship Honor 10 was launched in May at Rs 32,999, and is available to buy on Flipkart.
