Huawei sub-brand, Honor launched Honor 9N yesterday in India. Now it looks like the company is getting ready to launch a high-end smartphone dubbed as the Honor Play. The news comes from a teaser posted on Amazon India, which reveals the phone will launch on August 6. There is no price mentioned, but if we have to consider the Chinese pricing, the smartphone could be priced around RMB 1,999 (approximately Rs 21,300) for the 4GB RAM variant, and RMB 2,399 (approximately Rs 24,300) for the 6GB RAM variant.
Besides that, the listing also reveals the smartphone to feature Huawei’s GPU Turbo technology, paired alongside the Kirin 970 SoC. The technology is said to improve the overall gaming experience, by boosting smartphone performance by 60 percent, while cutting down on power consumption by 30 percent.
Honor Play specifications and features
Honor Play comes with premium hardware. The Kirin 970 SoC, is the flagship chipset from Huawei, which not only comes with GPU Turbo technology, but is also backed by AI features. Alongside that, the smartphone comes with 4GB and 6GB RAM options, with a standard internal storage of 64GB. At the front, it features a 6.3-inch display with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels, and a tall aspect ratio of 19.5:9.
On the photography side of things, the Honor Play features a dual-camera setup at the back, with a combination of 16-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors. Upfront there is a 16-megapixel camera, which is touted to come with AI recognition and augmented reality features. The smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo layered with EMUI 8.1 on top of it. All of this if fueled by a 3,750mAh battery underneath the hood.

Connectivity options include dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS with A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The smartphone is also equipped with the company’s Histen audio tech to provide 3D game sounds and 7.1 channel virtual audio.
