Huawei sub-brand, Honor is all set to launch it new smartphone Honor Play in India today. The smartphone will be unveiled today at 11:45AM at JW Marriot, Aerocity in Delhi. Those who are interested, can also live stream the launch event from the company’s official YouTube channel. Alternatively, you can also follow the company’s social media accounts for updates.
The company announced the Honor Play with the help of a teaser posted on Amazon India two weeks ago. While the teaser didn’t reveal a lot of details, it did mention that the smartphone will come loaded with Kirin 970 SoC. The chipset is also said to support Huawei’s GPU Turbo technology, which the company claims can offer a good gaming experience, while reducing battery consumption. Additionally, the device will also be backed by some AI features.
The smartphone will be sold exclusively on Amazon India. Pricing hasn’t been revealed yet, but the device has already been launched in China, where it is retailing at RMB 1,999 (approximately Rs 21,300) for the 4GB RAM variant, and RMB 2,399 (approximately Rs 24,300) for the 6GB RAM variant.
Honor Play specifications and features
Honor Play will feature a 6.3-inch HD+ (2340×1080 pixels) display sporting a tall aspect ratio of 19.5:9, and a notch at the top. The Kirin 970 SoC is the flagship chipset from Huawei, and will be backed by 4GB and 6GB RAM options. The smartphone carries an internal storage of 64GB. Connectivity options include, dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS with A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port.

In terms of photography, the Honor Play features a dual-camera setup at the back, comprising of a 16-megapixel sensor running side-by-side a 2-megapixel sensor. Up front, there is a 16-megapixel camera, which is touted to come with AI recognition and augmented reality features. The smartphone is backed by 3,750mAh battery, and will run Android 8.1 Oreo layered with EMUI 8.1 on top of it.
