Now, after launching the Huawei Nova 3, the company has confirmed through a post on Weibo that it will be releasing a major update for Honor Play on August 13. The post, which comes with a teaser image, does not reveal what Honor has in store and it also does not reveal whether we are looking at software update or hardware update. There is a possibility that Honor will launch a new variant of the Honor Play smartphone with a different memory configuration. According to GizmoChina, Huawei might launch a variant of Honor Play with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone is currently available with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage and the new variant could be the most expensive version yet. The addition of a new model with more storage makes sense since most flagship devices start with 128GB of internal storage.
If Huawei does not plan a new hardware update then there is a possibility that the smartphone is getting a software update. In the case of a software update, the Honor Play might get support for new features like CPU Turbo technology. The Honor Play was the first smartphone to get GPU Turbo technology, which boosts graphics performance.
