Honor Play with Kirin 970 and GPU Turbo goes on sale at 12PM: Everything you need to know

Honor Play, the flagship smartphone aimed at gaming enthusiasts, will go on sale today exclusively on Amazon India. The smartphone will be available for purchase at 12:00PM, and the e-commerce giant has already revealed that only limited stock will be available during the sale.

The smartphone was launched early this month and will be available for purchase for the second time today. With Honor Play, the Chinese smartphone is trying to woo consumers away from brands like Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus in the premium mid-range segment. According to Counterpoint Research, Honor was one of the fastest growing smartphone brands in India with 188 percent growth in shipments during the second quarter.

Honor Play price and offers

Honor Play is priced at Rs 19,999 in India, and it is one of the cheapest smartphones with company’s Kirin 970 chipset. On the purchase of Honor Play, Vodafone users will get 10GB additional data for 12 months. The smartphone comes in two different storage variants, and joins a new segment of smartphones aimed at those looking for on the go gaming on their smartphone.

Honor Play specifications and features

Honor Play features a 6.3-inch LCD display with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels, and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The smartphones features a notched display, which is wider than the one seen on other Huawei-made smartphones. The smartphone is powered by Kirin 970 SoC coupled with Mali-G72 MP12 graphics processor and supports GPU Turbo technology.

The smartphone comes standard with 64GB storage and can be purchased with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. Amazon India seems to be only offering the 4GB RAM variant during the sale today. In terms of camera, the Honor Play features a combination of 16-megapixel and 2-megapixel image sensors at the back of the device. At the front, there is a 16-megapixel selfie camera that supports 1080p video recording.

The Honor Play features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and runs EMUI 8.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The smartphone support connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 4G LTE. The Honor Play is backed by a 3,750mAh battery, and will be available in blue and black colors.
