In a first, the Honor V9 smartphone has just surfaced on China s certification body, TENAA. Never before has the device been spotted online. Based on the leaks, the successor to the Honor V8 is expected to be available in two RAM variants of 4GB and 6GB. Just in time for the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017, the Honor V9 could accompany the Honor 8 Lite which has also been detailed in a series of leaks. According to the certification on TENAA, the Honor V9 appears to feature a metal unibody with slightly rounded corners and antenna lines running on the top and bottom. On the back panel rest the dual camera module, LED flash and a fingerprint sensor. The volume rocker and power button are placed on the right, while the left side houses a SIM/microSD card slot. Honor V9 specifications and features
Coming to the specifications, the Honor V9 is expected to feature a 5.7-inch quad HD display offering 2560×1440 pixels resolution. At the heart will be an octa-core SoC clocked at 2.4GHz. Details on the type of chipset are currently scarce. It is expected that there will be two variants of the Honor V9 based on storage and RAM. We could see a 4GB of RAM + 64GB of internal storage version or a 6GB of RAM +128GB internal storage model.
In terms of photography, the Honor V9 is expected to feature a combination of 12-megapixel camera with 2-megapixel camera at the back offering high quality, DSLR-like images. For selfies, it is expected to feature an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. It will be fuelled by a 3,900mAh battery and on the software front, it will run Android 7.0 Nougat with Huawei s Emotion UI (EMUI) 5.0 layered on top. Interestingly, the predecessor Honor V8 was a China-specific phone when it was launched last year in May. If the latest leaks are anything to go by, the successor Honor V9 could be offered in other markets this time. To recall, the Honor V8 comes with a 5.7-inch display and is available in full HD and QHD variants. Both the variants come with IPS panel and 2.5D glass. It is powered by Huawei s top-end Kirin 950 octa-core processor and 4GB of RAM. It further includes 32GB/64GB built-in storage for the HD and QHD variants respectively. There is also support for memory expansion up to 128GB via microSD. Connectivity options include dual-SIM, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C and GPS. It is fuelled by a 3,500mAh battery and also features a fingerprint reader.
