A few days ago, the Honor V9 was spotted online for on TENAA, which revealed quite a lot about the device, and we were expecting a bunch of more leaks and rumors before the device actually hits the shelf. However, giving leaksters no time, Huawei itself has released a teaser that announces the launch of the Honor V8 successor on February 21.
Now, the poster does not reveal much other than this, but it is set against a backdrop of ocean water, which could hint at water resistant capabilities on the device. That also makes sense because, according to TechRadar report, Chinese swimmer Sun Yang will serve as the spokesperson for the Honor V9.
Other than that, from previous leaks we know that the Honor V9 will sport a metal unibody design, and the front panel of the device will come sans the home button. Instead, the home button, doubling as a fingerprint sensor will sit at the rear panel of the handset.
On the specifications front, he Honor V9 is expected to feature a 5.7-inch quad HD display offering 2560 1440 pixels resolution. At the heart will be an octa-core SoC clocked at 2.4GHz. Details on the type of chipset are currently scarce. It is expected that there will be two variants of the Honor V9 based on storage and RAM. We could see a variant with 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage, and one with 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage.
In terms of photography, the Honor V9 is expected to feature a combination of 12-megapixel camera with 2-megapixel camera at the back offering high quality, DSLR-like images. For selfies, it is expected to feature an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. It will be fuelled by a 3,900mAh battery and on the software front, it will run Android 7.0 Nougat with Huawei s Emotion UI (EMUI) 5.0 layered on top. As for the availability, the phone is launching in China for sure, but nothing can be said about its release in India. Considering that the Honor V8 was also a China-specific release, the Honor V9 may also not hit the Indian market.
Regardless, to put things in perspective, the Honor V8 was launched with a 5.7-inch display, which comes in a full HD and a QHD variants. Both the variants come with IPS panel and 2.5D glass. It is powered by Huawei s top-end Kirin 950 octa-core processor and 4GB of RAM. It further includes 32GB/64GB built-in storage for the HD and QHD variants respectively. There is also support for memory expansion up to 128GB via microSD. Connectivity options include dual-SIM, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C and GPS. It is fuelled by a 3,500mAh battery and also features a fingerprint reader.
