Honor View10 with 18:9 display, dual-cameras to launch in India on January 8: Specifications, features

After launching the View10 in China last month, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has now announced that the smartphone will launch in India on January 8. The announcement was made alongside the Honor 7X launch event in London. Buyers can choose between the Navy Blue and Midnight Black color variants.

The company has not revealed pricing details for the Indian market. However, the View10 is priced at 499 Euro (which is Rs 38,000 approximately) for the 128GB storage variant paired with 6GB of RAM.

In terms of design, the smartphone flaunts a metal body design and comes with a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio as its USP. Apart from the display, the smartphone also sports a dual-camera setup at the back. Honor also claims that the View10 is the ‘first AI smartphone’. With the help of AI, it can translate image to text, and more.

The smartphone is powered by the in-house Ai-based chipset, the Kirin 970 octa-core SoC. It is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. It sports a dual-lens camera with a f/1.8 aperture, a 16-megapixel RGB lens, paired with a 20-megapixel monochrome lens. Up front, there is a 13-megapixel camera with ‘Intelligent Portrait Recognition’ for selfie and video calling. On the connectivity front, On the software front, the smartphone runs Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 over the top.

Keeping the smartphone ticking is a 3,750mAh battery with fast charging. The company claims that the phone gets 50 percent charge in 30 minutes. The battery claims to be good enough to deliver 23 hours of talktime on 3G, and 22 days of standby time.

Additionally, the smartphone also comes with facial recognition for authentication. Not only that, the smartphone goes a step further and comes with closed eye face eye protection feature that unlocks the phone even when your eyes are shut. Honor claims that the new Honor View10 is smart enough to detect when someone else is using the smartphone and hides calls and messages immediately. For security, the Honor View10 also comes with embedded fingerprint sensor under the glass body up front.
