Honor will be holding a launch event on October 31 in China to announce the much-rumored Honor Magic 2 smartphone. Apart from launching its new flagship phone, the Chinese manufacturer will also be unveiling Honor Flypods wireless earbuds, and the Honor Watch. Huawei’s sub-brand though has confirmed today that it will be unveiling another device at the event – the water-resistant Honor Waterplay 8 tablet.
Honor had released its first waterproof Waterplay tablet back in 2017 with a 10.1-inch FHD+ screen. Honor has confirmed that the upcoming Honor Waterplay 8 will be featuring an 8-inch screen. The launch poster of the tablet reveals that it will be equipped with dual rear cameras. The new tablet will be arriving with a IP67 water-resistant chassis like the last year’s model.
The original Honor Waterplay from last year was a mid-range device as it was driven by Kirin 659 chipset. There is a possibility that this time, Huawei’s Kirin 710 SoC could be present under the hood of the Waterplay 8 tablet. There is no information on the the upcoming’s tablet’s other specifications.
Even though Honor will be unveiling multiple devices later this week, the Honor Magic 2 flagship phone with manual slider design will no doubt be hogging all the limelight. The Kirin 980 SoC-powered Magic 2 smartphone is expected to arrive with some advanced features like 3D face scanning, in-screen fingerprint scanner, 40W rapid charging and 16-megapixel + 24-megapixel + 16-megapixel triple rear cameras. It is also expected to release in variants such as 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. The smartphone will be packed with a 3,400mAh battery, and it will come preloaded with Android 9 Pie OS.
