xiaomi mi 3 sold out in india

Xiaomi debuted in India with much fanfare and its typical style the Mi 3 was sold out in less than 40 minutes. Despite introducing the pre-registration system, Flipkart’s site crashed multiple times as soon as the flash sale began. It wasn’t surprising, considering over 100,000 people had pre-registered to buy the device. But how many units did Xiaomi and Flipkart sell? We reached out to Xiaomi but the company did not reveal any numbers. However, multiple sources privy to the information have confirmed to BGR India that the number of units available for sale in the first lot was below 10,000 units. This isn’t surprising as Xiaomi would first like to see the kind of demand available in the country before coming out in full force. Xiaomi and Flipkart have already confirmed that the next lot would be available to buy again on July 29. Those who have pre-registered but couldn’t buy will be eligible to participate in the second round. However, we believe Xiaomi and Flipkart will have to look at a better way of selling devices or face pissing off interested buyers.
