Back in May we had reported about Twitter testing a night mode for its Android app. The night mode replaces the white background with a darker blue appearance in a bid to make it soothing for eyes. Now, the feature has been officially started to roll out for the Android users. Right now, there s no word on when this feature will be available to iOS users. To activate Twitter s new feature, tap on the slide out menu, and then the night mode toggle to turn it on and off. The toggle is a new addition, and appears below the Connect feature. Unlike iOS 9.3 s Night Shift mode, Twitter s mode doesn t automatically switch to night mode depending on the time. It is worth pointing out here that Google s latest Android N OS also comes with a similar Night Mode feature.

That said, Twitter s night mode looks quite nice and seems to gel well with the redesigned Android app, which was rolled out recently. The redesigned Twitter app is much neater and organized, and in line with Google s Material Design.
Assuming that a lot of people like to go through tweets later in the day, a lot of them are likely to use Twitter s night mode. But this goes without saying that manually turning it on and off can be a hassle for some. We are hoping Twitter improves the feature by giving the option to automatically turn it on depending on the time of sunset and sunrise in your region. That said, if you like darker themes, you may choose to never switch the night mode off.
