Google has added a new feature to YouTube that completely transforms the overall look and feel of the site. Called dark mode, it swaps the classic white-and-red theme of YouTube with black. The new interface also brings in some tweaks to the icons and other elements of the site. The new dark mode also ensures that you have less stress on eyes when you re binge watching, while also offering a cinematic feel. Discovered by Reddit user _paul-, activating the dark mode is simple. However, you ll need to fiddle around a bit with the Developer Tools panel in Chrome. Before you go ahead to try out the new YouTube dark mode on your Chrome browser, ensure that it is updated to version 57 and above. To update Chrome browser to the latest version, click on the three dots on the top right corner, just besides the address bar. Then click on Settings, followed by About on the left panel. In case you are running on an older version, just click on update and restart Chrome browser. When I tested the dark mode, I was only able to get it working in Incognito mode, but when the feature officially rolls out, it will work on normal mode too. How to activate dark mode in YouTube on Google Chrome
Step One: The dark mode works both on Windows and Mac OS. Open YouTube in an Incognito tab, right click anywhere on the page and then click on Inspect Element. You can also use keyboard shortcuts — on Windows, press Ctrl + Shift + I and on Mac OS, press Option + Command + I — to open the to open Inspect element under Developer Tools.
Step Two: Click on the console tab, paste the following text and hit enter: document.cookie=”VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE=fPQ4jCL6EiE”
Step Three: Reload the page and on the top right corner, just besides the sign-in button, you ll see three dots menu. Click on this menu button and the very first option is dark mode.

Besides the dark look, YouTube has also made changes to the profile menu when you are logged in. Clicking on your avatar on the top right corner now reveals options such as my channel, creator studio, dark mode, language, restricted mode settings and location settings.
