Instagram is one of the popular photo sharing app available on Android, iOS and Windows Phone devices. The main goal of the app is to make your photos look their best, and it does this by letting you add filters and apply effects to your photos. Some of the filters on Instagram can really make your photos stand out, but unfortunately, the tool is only present on smartphones. When it comes to photo editing on PC, a lot of users prefer professional tools such as Photoshop, simply because the number of options it offers. Now, where are two ways to replicate Instagram filters you can manually adjust levels on photo editing tools, or you can use the preset Photoshop actions to apply the desired effects to your photos. Manually adjusting the levels can be a tedious job, and so in this tutorial I ll be talking about the preset tools that you can use on Adobe Photoshop. Daniel Box, who is a big Instagram fan, has created and shared some Photoshop actions that make it easier to add those effects to your photos on PC. There is also Deviantart, an online social community where users share their photos, art and Photoshop actions to help you add desired photo filters in a few clicks. A community user, friabrisa has also shared Photoshop actions that let you recreate Instagram filters on PC. You can even explore a lot of Photoshop actions shared by other users. What all do you need?
Well, to be able to use these actions you will need Adobe s Photoshop CC, Photoshop CS, Photoshop Elements or Photoshop Lightroom. Next, download the Photoshop Action files shared by the Daniel Box from here or the one shared by friabrisa from here. Unzip the files and you will have files named Instagram Filters_Bianca dA and instagram-actions-by-dbox both having .atn extensions. How to apply Instagram filters on Photoshop
Step One: Open Photoshop and load the photo on which you want to add the Instagram filters. Next, on the top bar, click on Windows > Actions. Alternatively, you can use (Alt + F9) as a shortcut to quickly open Actions on Photoshop.
Step Two: You will see a small column window open on the right side, with all the Instagram filters visible there.
Step Three: Select the filter you want to apply, and click on the Play button below.
Once the rendering is complete, you will see the edited photo with the applied filter. Press (Ctlr + S) to save the photo.
If you want to make further adjustments to the photos, you can do it by clicking on Images > Adjustments and selecting the parameter that you want to adjust. This can be contrast, brightness, hue, saturation, shadows, highlights, and more.
