Google Location racker

Google knows pretty much everything you do. Your likes, dislikes, music preference and even your secret crush. And now, a little known Google website has let the kitty out of the bag and revealed that the search engine giant also tracks your location which means that they even know where you are pretty much all the time. What’s worse is it keeps a history of your movements, which are pretty accurate and timestamped as well. Also Read - Google workers ask Alphabet CEO to stop protecting harassers

Even though it is a scary feeling that your each and every move is recorded, the tracking abilities of Google can be easily switched off. For Google to record data on your phone’s location, the user must have enabled both Location Reporting and Location History. You can easily disable these features in Google Settings. You can even delete all of your location history to erase all the past records that Google has saved. However, it is important to note that disabling Location Reporting, will make services like Google Now from working properly. Also Read - DuckDuckGo asks people to block Google's new tracking method

FOR ANDROID DEVICES:

If you haven’t disabled the settings yet,  you might want to visit their little known location tracking website, to see a map of where exactly you and your cellphone have been, every day of the week, every month of the year.

The location settings page has been available for many years by Google since Google first rolled it out as part of its now-defunct app Latitude.

Google claims that such information is used to provide the user with a better search experience and optimise Google Now for the customer.

Even though, it might be cool to see where you were on Independence Day last year, it is smart to be cautious and decide if you really want Google, quite literally, following you everywhere.
