OnePlus, as we have reported before, is conducting a unique virtual reality launch event for its OnePlus 2. For this purpose, the company even custom made its cardboard VR headsets which went out of stock in a matter of hours in India. The company has now announced that for all those who missed out on buying a headset will be able follow the event without one as well. “If you missed out on our Cardboard giveaway, you can try making your own or buying one from somewhere else. But if you simply find yourself Cardboard-less on July 27th, don t despair! We ve also built a Cardboard-free 360 experience, right into our launch app. It won t be as immersive, but it will still be interactive and amazing,” the company said in a blog post.
In India, the launch event is scheduled to begin at 7.30AM on July 28. The OnePlus 2 has been confirmed to have an improved version of the Snapdragon 810 processor, USB Type C port, a physical home button with a fingerprint sensor, a 3,300mAh battery, faster LTE, and dual-SIM card support.
It has also confirmed that the smartphone will cost between $320-$450. OnePlus will also be introducing a new invite system that is easier to get, due to a relatively larger inventory they are preparing ahead of the launch.
As far as rumors are concerned, the OnePlus 2 is said to feature a slimmer full-metal body, a 5.5-inch full HD (1920 1080 pixels) display, and a combination of 13-megapixel rear camera with laser autofocus and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
