HTC 10 evo with Snapdragon 810 SoC launched in India, priced at Rs 48,990: Specifications and features

The HTC Evo 10, which uses a two-year-old Snapdragon 810 processor that is known for heating issues, costs more than the Samsung Galaxy S7.

First unveiled in November, the HTC 10 evo was first expected to be announced in India in December. After over a month’s delay, HTC has finally announced availability of the smartphone. Priced at Rs 48,990, the smartphone is now available on HTC’s estore. Additionally, the HTC 10 evo is also selling on Amazon India at Rs 46,900. It is available in only Pearl Gold color.

HTC places the 10 evo as a premium smartphone with features like metal unibody, water and dust resistance with IP57 certification, bundled with USB Type-C dual adaptive earphones. When first announced, pricing of the smartphone was expected to be critical to gauge how it performs in the competitive market. The hefty pricing doesn’t seem to justify the older Snapdragon 810 processor housed inside that is known for causing heating issues in the past.

HTC 10 evo specification and features

The smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch quad HD display. It runs Android 6.0 with HTC Sense and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 processor clocked at 2GHz along with 3GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB of onboard storage and supports expandable storage up to 2TB.

The smartphone sports a 16-megapixel rear snapper with 29.3mm wide angle lens, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, optical image stabilization (OIS) and dual-LED flash. The rear camera also supports 4K video recording and 120fps slow motion video recording capabilities. Up front, the smartphone houses an 8-megapixel selfie camera with support for HD video recording.
The HTC 10 evo is armed with a 3,200mAh battery along with support for Quick Charge 2.0 for fast charging. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer.

At Rs 48,990, the HTC 10 evo appears slightly overpriced. As I have mentioned in my first impressions, the smartphone doesn’t actually offer a radical design and aims to compensate it with features like water and dust resistance. Additionally, at a time when smartphone makers are focusing on newest of Qualcomm chipsets with more RAM, HTC has moved back steps and opted for an older chipset. ALSO READ: HTC 10 evo hands-on and first impressions

In the same price segment, the smartphone battles performance and design-centric flagships such as the Samsung Galaxy S7 and OnePlus 3. The Samsung Galaxy S7 is considered one of Samsung’s most successful phones. It is priced at Rs 43,400 and features 5.1-inch QHD display, Exynos 8890 64-bit processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, 12-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, and 3,000mAh battery.

If you are looking at top-end specifications, then the OnePlus 3 is the smartphone to consider. It is priced at Rs 27,999 and flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of onboard storage, 16-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front camera, and 3,000mAh battery.
