We may have not heard from HTC regarding a new phone lately, but the company is timely updating its existing ones. After HTC U11, the company is now rolling out Android Oreo update to the HTC 10. Along with the new version of the operating system, HTC has also rolled out Jio VoLTE update for the device. “The software update will bring numerous core Android Oreo features and compatibility to Jio VoLTE,” the company announced. HTC 10 was released in April 2016 with Android Marshmallow, but was quick enough to receive Android Nougat update within 95 days of its release. With Android Oreo, some of the features the HTC smartphones include Picture-in-Picture mode, Notification Dots, Android Instant Apps, Longer battery life, Notification channel, among others. Picture-in-Picture mode allows you to perform two tasks simultaneously like video chatting and using the calendar app. Notification dots act as a shortcut to view alerts without opening the app. Android Oreo devices will get Instant Apps pre-installed. It allows one to use apps directly from their browser avoiding the need of installation. With Notification channels, users will be able to make custom channels for notifications and modify alerts as well. For a quick recap, the HTC 10 features a 5.2-inch QHD (2560×1440 pixels) Super LCD 5 display. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM, and 32GB storage option, along with a microSD card slot with support for up to 2TB.
For photography, the HTC 10 is equipped with a 12-Ultrapixel 2 camera with f/1.8 aperture, optical image stabilization (OIS), laser auto-focus, and 4K video recording capabilities. It also features Pro mode, Auto HDR, HTC Zoe, hyperlapse and slow motion mode. Up front is a 5-megapixel auto-focus selfie camera with 1.34MICROm pixels, OIS, f/1.8 aperture, auto HDR and ultra-wide angle lens.
The HTC 10 is fueled by a 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. Connectivity options include 4G LTE support, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and USB Type-C port.
