Apart from the 8X, HTC has also announced a more budget friendly 8S Windows Phone 8 smartphone. Again like the 8X, it sports a colorful design language which by the looks of it seems to use polycarbonate. In the case of the 8S, the color scheme is not straight forward as the device sports multiple colors. Also Read - HTC Desire 20+ launched with 48-megapixel quad rear camera setup
The 8S is a slightly lower-end device and the specs speak for themselves. It has 4-inch WVGA display with a resolution of 800×480 pixels, a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. Also Read - HTC Wildfire E Lite smartphone design leaks online
While the 8S features the Beats Audio branding, it does not have the extra amplifier seen in the 8X. However, when one plugs in a Beats headphone, the phone does show a Beats notification. Also Read - HTC Wildfire E Lite listed on Google Play Console
On the photography front, It has a 5-megapixel camera with f/2.8 aperture, a 35mm lens and it can only shoot 720p video. Bewilderingly HTC has opted not to include a front facing camera. As there is only 4GB of onboard memory, HTC packs in a microSD card slot, but the battery is not removable.
Like the 8X, the 8S is slated to be officially available in the market in November. As of now there is no pricing information, nor is there any information regarding an Indian release.
