Now that HTC has launched the flagship One (M8), it is now focusing on other devices, and seems like it is close to launching a new Butterfly smartphone. AndroidCentral cites @LlabTooFeR s tweet which claims that the forthcoming Butterfly is codenamed B2 and is headed for the Asian market. The timing of the information makes sense, as it will soon be a year since HTC launched the Butterfly S. Like the earlier Butterfly smartphones, the B2 will also boast high-end specifications similar to the One (M8). However, unlike the flagship s build quality, the B2 will get a glossy/plastic body. While @LlabTooFeR doesn t reveal any specifications, an earlier report claimed that the next Butterfly smartphone could feature a 5.25-inch 1080p display, 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded using a microSD card. Instead of the Duo camera, HTC could opt for a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel camera at the front.
The B2 will only be launched in select Asian countries, though there is no mention of a date. HTC is also reported to be working on a mini variant of the flagship device called One mini 2, an affordable plastic variant of the One (M8), as well as a premium variant reportedly called One (M8) prime.
