A couple of months after HTC announced the Butterfly S, the phone is finally available in India. It is available on preorder for Rs 52,428 from various online shopping portals as spotted by Mobitors. As shown on these e-retailer sites, the Butterfly S will launch around September 11, when these portals will start dispatching the phones. In terms of features, the HTC Butterfly S also dons plastic chassis and closely resembles its predecessor, the Butterfly. It is a premium phone which flaunts a 5-inch Super LCD 3 full HD display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass protecting its screen. The Butterfly S runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 5.0 UI which also brings along features like BlinkFeed and Zoe camera on the phone.
The hardware of the phone is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocking at 1.9GHz, with 2GB of RAM, which is better than that seen on its successor the Butterfly. Other features include 16GB of internal storage expandable up to 64GB using a microSD card, a non-removable 3,200mAh battery which is noticeably bigger than that on the original Butterfly and promises to offer 29 hours of talk time and 544 hours of standby time.
It also features front-facing stereo speakers with Beats Audio and HTC BoomSound. Like the original model and the One, the Butterfly S also sports a 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera on the rear and a 2.1-megapixel camera on the front. Connectivity-wise, it comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3G, GPRS, NFC, and micro USB support. The HTC Butterfly S is available in four colors including black, white, red and grey.
We believe HTC has got the pricing horribly wrong as phones running on the latest Snapdragon 800 processor are already available for much lesser. The HTC One, which also features a Snapdragon 600 chipset is available for at least Rs 10,000 lesser and one can even get the Sony Xperia Z Ultra that features the latest Snapdragon 800 processor and a bigger display for at least Rs 7,000 cheaper. The Butterfly S is at least a three months late, when Snapdragon 600 was still the best silicon around.
