Last month HTC announced the Butterfly S, which would be the successor to its Butterfly phablet. The device was unveiled at an event in Taiwan with no word on when it would come to other markets. It now seems the Taiwanese company is likely to launch the phone in India soon, as it has listed the device on its India website. Also Read - HTC Butterfly S available in India for Rs 52,428
To remind you of the specifications, the Butterfly S flaunts a 5-inch full HD LCD 3 (1920×1080 pixels) display and has a more powerful 1.9GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor paired with Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM at its heart. The phablet has 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded using a microSD card and also features a 3,200mAh batter that is bigger than the one powering its predecessor. Talking of its photo-clicking capabilities, the phablet has the same 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera that we see on the One, supplemented with a 2.1-megapixel camera at the front. Unlike the One though, the Butterfly S foregoes optical image stabilization.
On the software side of things, the Butterfly S runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean wrapped in Sense 5.0. This update brings features like the expanded HTC BlinkFeed, Instagram integration, enhanced quick setting menu and lock screen widget, an improved Zoe and about 12 new themes for video highlights among others.
HTC last week again showed the Butterfly S at the Frequencies Asia conference held at Bangkok. Though they refused to comment on when the device would come to our shores, the fact that HTC has listed the Butterfly S on its website means it can’t be too far. It is difficult to guess the price, but one thing is for sure that it won’t come cheap. Its predecessor, if you remember, is still one of the most expensive Android smartphones in India today. As we wait to hear some more from HTC, you can read our first impressions of the Butterfly S.
