After recently accidentally leaking the Desire 310 on its European website, HTC s new smartphone the Desire 310 has been made official on the company s China website. The company has given all the specs details of the phone, however as not yet mentioned its pricing and availability. In terms of design, the Desire 310 listed on HTC s China website looks slightly different from the one seen on its European website, however comes with the same feature set. It has a 4.5-inch FWVGA (854×480 pixels) display and runs on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
HTC has mentioned that the smartphone will be powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, though has not mentioned the name of the chipset maker. Going by the earlier report, this will be a MediaTek processor, coupled with 512MB of RAM. Other features in the phone include 4GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera.
Connectivity-wise, the phone comes with dual-SIM (GSM+GSM), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and 3G (HSDPA) network options. It embeds a 2,000mAh battery.
After launching the Desire 700 and Desire 601 mid-range smartphones in partnership with Broadcom and Spreadtrum, HTC had recently announced its partnership with MediaTek as a part of the company s strategies to pitch the mid-ranges smartphone segment. HTC has been going through a tough time in its business and is hoping to fare back in to the market with its mid-range smartphones.
With these specifications, the Desire 310 will be up against the likes of the Gionee P3 and the Xolo Q700S smartphones, which bring similar features and cost under Rs 10,000. Both the phones are powered by 1.3GHz quad-core chipset by MediaTek, offer 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, and run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The Gionee P3 is priced at Rs 7,499 while the Xolo Q700S is available for Rs 9,999.
Others in the competition include the Motorola Moto G, which boasts a 720p display, a Snapdragon quad-core 400 processor and an array of other impressive features and is priced at Rs 12,499 for 8GB variant. In addition to that, the phone gets regular updates from Google s Android.
