Last week, HTC’s yet-to-be officially launched Desire 500 cropped up online on several Indian online retail stores. Just as we had predicted, the company has now made things official by launching the device in India and it is available across the country for Rs 21,490. To remind you, the Desire 500 which was first announced back in July sports a 4.3-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor paired with 1GB of RAM. Also Read - HTC Wildfire E Lite smartphone design leaks online
Other features included are an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and BSI image sensor, 1.6-megapixel secondary camera at the front, Beats audio support, 4GB internal storage that is expandable to up to 64GB using a microSD card and 1,800mAh battery, which the company claims is good enough for up to 12.1 hours of talktime and up to 435 hours on standby mode.
Connectivity-wise the device features dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS/AGPS, Wi-Fi and on the software front, it runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean wrapped under Sense 5 UI. Additionally, it also comes pre-loaded with some of the features we have seen on the HTC One like BlinkFeed and Video Highlights among others.
With a price tag of Rs 21,490, the Desire 500 is likely to face some competition from the likes of the Sony Xperia L.
