Expanding its Desire series, HTC has launched the HTC Desire 816G, six months after launching the Desire 816 in India. The new smartphone is priced at Rs 18,990, whereas the original Desire 816 was priced at Rs 24,999. The smartphone will go on sale in early October. As far as the specifications go, they aren’t that different and the only differentiating factor is the processor and the RAM. Where the original Desire 816 was powered by a 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, the new Desire 816G is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core processor. Connectivity-wise, it has dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth and GPS/AGPS, and on the software front, it runs on Android’s latest the 4.4.2 KitKat version out-of-the-box, wrapped under HTC Sense UI.
