The HTC Bolt has long been rumoured to be launched. While some anticipated a launch of the mid-range HTC Bolt by late October, which clearly did not happen, some have speculated that the smartphone will actually be launched under a different moniker, which would be HTC 10 Evo. In the latest rumor about the HTC launch, leaksters believe that HTC will be launching one other smartphone along with the HTC Bolt aka HTC 10 Evo. Codenames HTC Desire A17, the details about the smartphone are still scantily known. However, it has been revealed that purported Desire A17 smartphone will have Android 6.0.1 pre-installed with Sense 8 running on top, reported Phonearena. Although not enough details are known about the Desire A17, but if we dig down are memories a bit, we remember that the HTC Desire 530 was codenamed Desire A16, there the speculated Desire A17 could be the successor of the Desire 530 smartphone. Launched at the Mobile World Congress 2016, the HTC Desire 530 came with a 5-inch display with a 720 x 1280 resolution. Under the hood, it was powered by a Snapdragon 210 chipset, carrying a quad-core 1.1GHz CPU and the Adreno 304 GPU. The chipset is accompanied by 1.5GB of RAM, along with 16GB of expandable native storage. A 2TB capacity microSD slot comes with it for those seeking additional storage. On the photography front, the smartphone features an 8MP primary camera and a 5MP front facing camera. Keeping the lights on is a 2200mAh battery. Other than that, the HTC Bolt / HTC 10 Evo is expected to have a bigger display as compared to the original HTC 10. The HTC 10 features a 5.2-inch Quad HD display while the HTC 10 evo is likely to come with a 5.5-inch display, but with lower 1080p resolution. According to speculations, the newest smartphone will run the older Snapdragon 810 chipset coupled with 3GB of RAM. If true, selection of Snapdragon 810 processor is bit surprising considering that the dated chipset was heavily criticized for overheating. Even Samsung had ditched Qualcomm s 810 processor for its flagship Galaxy S6 smartphone last year. Moreover, we already have a lot of smartphones like the LeEco Le Max 2 and Moto Z running Qualcomm s better and improved 820 processor. The smartphone will come with Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. ALSO READ: Meizu could launch Xiaomi Mi MIX-like bezel-less smartphone next month
Just like Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, with the HTC 10 Evo, the company is expected to introduce a headphone jack-free full-metal body smartphone that will draw inspiration from the HTC 10 in terms of design, and feature antenna lines like its predecessor. One interesting element that will feature in the smartphone without a headphone jack is perhaps the HTC BoomSound audio-enhancing tech, which will only be available through headphones. As the smartphone does not feature the regular headphone jack, it is likely that HTC will offer either LeEco s propriety Type-C based CDLA headphones or bundle a Type-C to 3.5mm connector to allow users to insert regular headphones.
On the photography front, the HTC 10 Evo is expected to come with an 18-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies. Although HTC was one of the first companies to launch a smartphone with a dual-camera setup, none of the rumors hint at the HTC 10 Evo featuring the dual camera, yet.
Additionally, the HTC 10 Evo is expected to offer 64GB of onboard storage, which would be further expandable using a microSD card. Based on the images of the smartphone that were leaked in the past, it may not come with a hybrid slot for memory card or SIM, instead it will offer separate slots, which would allow users to use a second SIM as well as insert a microSD card to boost storage simultaneously. The smartphone will feature an oval home button, which is likely to come embedded with a fingerprint sensor.
