Citing anonymous sources, Pocket-lint reports that the company had plans to launch the smartwatch this year, but decided not to pursue it for the time being. Companies like Sony, Samsung, LG, Motorola and Asus have announced their next-gen smartwatches with a slew of competitive features. Even Apple is all set to unveil the iWatch on Tuesday leaving HTC to fit into big shoes with its flagship smartwatch.

HTC’s smartwatch was also touted to be a rework of Qualcomm Toq that was unveiled last year. After seeing the competition, if HTC feels that the zeal of its smartwatch is lost, their decision to abandon the launch might not be a bad idea after all.
