HTC launches One M9 gold edition but shoots product photos with an iPhone 6

htc One m9 gold madness

Like many smartphone companies these days, HTC also took to Twitter to unveil its shiny gold variant of the One M9. Unfortunately, in a rather embarrassing turn of events, users with a microscopic vision noticed that the photograph of the One M9 gold variant was taken by an Apple iPhone 6.

After realizing the blunder, HTC immediately deleted and replaced the tweet, but not before been spotted by many who took screenshots and called out HTC.

The most basic lessons we learn in photography is to clear the noise and reflections while taking a shot, especially of the photographer taking the picture. Looks like HTC was in a rush to get the news out, and has now effectively managed to shift the limelight from the stunning new variant, and is instead giving more footage to Apple’s latest offering.

Twitter users started sharing zoomed in versions of the back of the gold HTC One M9, which clearly reflects a man taking a picture using the iPhone 6.

This is embarrassing not only because HTC accidentally leveraged Apple, but also because the company constantly tries to highlight and improve camera quality of the One M9. Back in April, the company rolled out a software update to improve camera quality, and just last month it even updated its camera with the ability to shoot RAW photos.

As mentioned above, HTC deleted the offending photo and posted the tweet again:

The Taiwanese smartphone maker launched the 24-carat gold limited edition HTC One M9, to celebrate the end of the football season of Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League. The gorgeous looking smartphone did gets its fair share of spotlight, but just not for the right reasons!
