While both the smartphones flaunt 2K displays, there is a slight different in size. The One M9+ features a 5.2-inch screen, while the Galaxy S6 Edge features a 5.1-inch screen. Another big change is that the screen on the Galaxy S6 Edge curves on the sides, which is useful for showing notifications and for app shortcuts.
Processor and RAM
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is powered by an in-house octa-core Exynos 7420 (1.5GHz quad-core + 2.1GHz quad-core) chipset. The One M9+, on the other hand, is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6795T chipset along with a PowerVR G6200 GPU. Both the smartphones feature 3GB of RAM.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge comes with storage options ranging from 32GB up to 128GB, but unlike other smartphones in the company’s lineup, it skips the microSD card slot. HTC One M9+ features 32GB onboard memory complemented by a microSD slot that can accommodate another 128GB.
Galaxy S6 Edge features a 16-megapixel primary snapper and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. The secondary sensor is a wide angled lens which will be a boon for selfie lovers. HTC’s smartphone comes with a Duo Camera setup, with a 20.7-megapixel primary camera along with a depth sensor. On the front, there is a 4-Ultrapixel camera.
HTC One M9+ comes with a non removable 2,840mAh battery pack whereas the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is backed by a slightly smaller 2,600mAh battery.
Both the smartphones run on Android Lollipop wrapped under the company’s respective UI. The operating system on the Galaxy S6 Edge is wrapped under an overhauled TouchWiz UI, while HTC’s One M9+ features Sense 7 UI.
Both the smartphones come with a fingerprint scanner integrated into the physical home button. Furthermore, the Galaxy S6 Edge also comes with a heart-rate sensor.
