Back in December 2017, it was leaked that the upcoming device in the HTC Harmony series will be launched as HTC U11 EYEs instead. A few days after that the device was also reported to have passed China s 3C certification. And now, the word seems to coming from the horse s mouth.
HTC has sent out invites for an event on January 15, and it is widely believed that this will be the release of the U11 EYEs. The invite was posted in Chinese social media website Weibo. While the shared invite does not reveal the name of the device, an accompanying post mentions something about Eye , which is a decent hint.
From what we know so far, the HTC U11 EYEs will sell in the markets in two variants, one which would be powered by Snapdragon 652 SoC, and the other that will run Snapdragon 660 SoC. While former will equip 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage, the latter SoC will be accompanied with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of memory configurations.
Little details about the expected display and camera specification have also been rumored. It is believed that the device will come with a 5.99-inch display with a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels, and an aspect ratio of 18:9. In terms of camera, it will sport a 5-megapixel dual camera setup on the front, and a 12-megapixel sensor at the back. The smartphone is rumored to be fueled by a 3,930mAh battery.
For now, the release of the device will be limited to Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan, and there is no news yet if and when it will be coming to other markets.
In other news, while HTC is preparing to launch new devices to the market, it is keeping its old once up to date as well. After the HTC U11, the HTC 10 is now getting the Android 8.0 Oreo update. The update is 1.8GB in size, and is said to come with the December security patch as well.
