HTC silently launched Desire 12 and Desire 12+ mid-range smartphones early this week and the Taiwan-based company is expected to introduce its flagship U12 next week. The smartphone is seen as the first real challenger to Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy series from the company in a really long time. While the smartphone is said to have been showcased at a 5G event in Taiwan recently, new renders show what the smartphone might actually look like when it goes on sale later this year. 3D artist ConceptCreator has created renders of the upcoming device which closely relates to the rumors that we have heard about HTC U12+ in the past. The render mostly seems to relate to the Liquid Surface design that first debuted with the launch of HTC U11 last year. Among other notable design elements, the render predicts it will feature a textured power button and the buttons will be colorful, which will be cool and great way to differentiate the premium design.
In terms of specifications, the HTC U12+ is expected to sport a 6-inch LCD+ display with a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels and aspect ratio of 18:9. It is also likely to offer 6GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage. The smartphone is expected to sport dual rear camera setup with a combination of 16-megapixel and 12-megapixel image sensors. It is also likely to feature dual 8-megapixel camera up front for selfies.
The HTC U12+ will launch with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and HTC might have some other tricks up its sleeve. HTC has conceded its position as major competitor to Apple to Samsung in the past years with poor pricing and delayed launch of its products. With most flagships looking almost same as last year’s phones, the U12+ might bring a fresh lease of life to the smartphone segment.
