Huami, a wearable brand backed by Xiaomi has launched a new wearable with circular watchface in China. The new Huami Amazfit Verge comes with a circular display and has a competitive price as well. The smartwatch also offers key fitness-centric features such as all day heart rate monitoring, notification for abnormal heart rate, NFC support for payments and GPS for location tracking. Huami says Amazfit Verge features a 1.3-inch circular display and has a case that measures 43mm in diameter. The smartwatch uses an AMOLED display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels and has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. It features a coating to avoid fingerprint smudges on the display. The Huami Amazfit Verge is powered by a dual core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and is offered with 512MB RAM and 4GB storage. It comes with usual array of sensors, but also includes geomagnetic and air pressure sensors. The smartwatch is IP68 certified and it supports GPS with GLONASS and is capable of tracking 11 different sports depending on the mode.
The Huami Verge also supports WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 with low energy and has an all day heart rate monitoring support. The company claims that the heart rate tracking uses an high precision optical sensor with 98 percent accuracy at up to 80 percent reduced power consumption. Like most premium smartwatches, the Amazfit Verge is capable of detecting and informing the user about abnormal heart rate.
The Verge from Huami also supports NFC and NFC based payment solutions and it supports bus cards in 165 cities or just over 20,000 public transport routes. The users of this wearable can pay for their bus rides using either Alipay or UnionPay. The Amazfit Verge comes with 13 built-in watch faces out of the box and users will able able to add custom watch faces. The smartwatch spports Xiaomi’s own Xiao AI assistant and supports the Mijia smart home app.
Huami claims that the Amazfit Verge will be able to last for up to 5 days on a single charge and the battery life will vary depending on usage. The Amazfit Verge is priced at RMB 799 ($116) and is now available for purchase from JD and Tmall in sky grey color.
