With EMUI 10.1, Huawei has improved the user interface for faster reaction. The company says scrolling will now react to user inputs with a new “physics-inspired friction-slide effect.” The company also says that the acceleration model is developed using human factors research. This is meant to ensure the animations behave just as users would expect. With this update, Huawei is making it easier to access the sidebar. Huawei EMUI 10.1 announced: Here’s what new
This sidebar is similar to that offered by Samsung, Oppo, Realme and others. Apps inside the sidebar can be dragged across the screen to initiate multi-window. This update also brings a new multi-device control panel, which serves as a unified platform allowing users to see every connected device in their proximity at a glance. Another new addition is called MeeTime, which Huawei calls as the world’s first all-scenario video calling app. This app supports up to 1080p Full HD video calls between Huawei devices. Huawei EMUI 10.1 also brings Celia, a new voice assistant modeled around Apple’s Siri and Google Assistant. You can wake up the assistant by holding down the power button for one second or saying “Hey Celia”. Celia speaks English, French and Spanish at launch, and will be rolling out to the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Mexico, Chile and Columbia in the first phase. Other new features or enhancements include multi-screen collaboration, Huawei Share and cross device photo gallery.
Huawei is finding itself in a limbo where it cannot use Google Mobiles Services on its devices. This leaves the company with little choice but to build its own alternative. The EMUI 10.1 update is all about designing alternatives and packing them with features. Huawei says EMUI 10.1 will start rolling out to over 30 models. It will be available for Mate 30 series, Mate X, P30 series and more. There is no word on when the roll out will officially begin for these devices.
