Chinese smartphone maker and electronics giant Huawei announced that it is committing to bi-monthly updates for its smartphones. This means that the company will release one update every two months for its devices that will bring any required bug fixes, new features, and Android security patches. According to the report by Ausdroid, the company also added that it is bringing a new firmware update to a number of its devices that will add face unlock feature and this new update will be rolling out to its users next month. The report noted that Face unlock will complement the existing security measures that include fingerprint scanning, PIN, pattern, and password-based security.
As part of the face unlock features, the company will also give users the option to either automatically unlock their device or have the “slide to unlock” feature to complete the unlocking method. Larking Huang, the Managing Director for Consumer Business Group at Huawei Australia issued a statement in the report noting that the company is committed to providing new experiences to its customers. He went on to add that this upcoming firmware update will ensure that most of the devices that the company has launched in the last two years will get the face unlock feature.
