For quite some while now, the word s been out that Huawei s sub-brand Honor is working on the Honor 8 successor. While we have heard a bunch of leaks about the Honor 9, the launch date had long been unknown. However now, right from the horse s mouth, a save the date has been sent out.
According to the invite shared by the leakster Roland Quandt , who goes by the Twitter handle, @rquandt, the Honor 9 could be unveiled on June 27th. The poster touts the product as The Light Catcher .

Though we expect a bunch of leaks going further closer to the release date of the Honor 9, there s still plentiful we already know about the smartphone. A recently leaked render showed the placement of fingerprint scanner being shifted from the back to the front of the device, where the home button is likely to double up as a biometric sensor.
Just like the Honor 8, the Honor 9 is believed to sport a dual-rear camera setup along with laser auto-focus and dual-LED flash. There s, however, no word on whether the setup will include RGB + monochrome sensors or a combination of wide-angle and telephoto lens. While that s the limit of what the leaks have put forth so far, we can draw a perspective by a recap of what the Honor 8 was like. The predecessor of the smartphone is question was launched in India for Rs 29,999. It featured a 5.2-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display, and was powered by a 2.3GHz octa-core Kirin 950 processor and Mali T880-MP4 GPU paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage, which was expandable up to 256GB using a microSD card.
On the camera front, the Honor 8 sport a dual-rear camera setup with two 12-megapixel cameras along with dual-tone LED flash light. The primary rear camera has f/2.2 aperture and Laser AF. Up front, there was an 8-megapixel front-camera with f/2.4 aperture for selfies. ALSO READ: Honor 8 Review

Connectivity options include a USB Type-C port, dual-SIM tray, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, Accelerometer, Ambient Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Infrared Sensor, Compass, Gyroscope, and NFC.
