Now that notches are everywhere, OEMs are focusing their efforts on completely doing away with bezels on smartphones. One of the most-interesting results of those efforts is Oppo s Find X, which manages an all-screen front by tucking away the front-camera (as well as the dual-camera system on the back), earpiece, and the usual array of sensors in a motorized slider. While the jury is still out on the long-term reliability of the mechanical solution, many manufacturers have already decided to follow in Oppo s footsteps, with Honor being one of them.
At this year s IFA technology conference in Berlin, the Huawei sub-brand had teased its Honor Magic 2 smartphone, which comes with an almost bezel-free display, made possible by a slider mechanism similar to that on the Find X. Now, a report from Gizchina has claimed that the flagship smartphone will be officially launched in China on October 31.
The information comes courtesy of a teaser, which all but confirms the official launch date. Interestingly, ZTE s former subsidiary will also be launching its all-screen Nubia X on the same date, albeit with a much more innovative solution to the problem of bezels and notches.

There isn t much known about Honor Magic 2 s yet, but it s clear that it ll be a flagship. As such, we can expect the smartphone to have Huawei s recently-outed HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC, which is built on the 7nm process. Recent reports have claimed that Honor Magic 2 will have a Magic Charge feature with support for up to 40W charging, further secured by a 15-layer protection system. Expect some AI-capabilities as well.
