Huawei has just announced the launch of its Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9 beta program for 11 new devices after the company initially launched the beta program for nine devices in early September. The list of eligible devices to enter the beta test includes devices that were launched earlier this year and ones that were launched last year. According to the initial report, the 11 new devices to join the EMUI 9 beta program include Huawei Mate 9, Mate 9 Porsche Design, Mate 9 Pro, Huawei P10, P10 Plus, Huawei Nova 3, Nova 2S, Honor Note 10, V9, Honor 9, or the MediaPad M5.

According to the report by The Android Soul, if you own any of the devices in the list then you are eligible to join the beta test. However, this comes with a twist as users will need to ensure that they are running a “specific version” of EMUI installed on their device. The report has issued a warning to users who may want to join the beta test stating that Beta program involves unreleased, unfinished software that may break important functionality in your device. It also noted that there are limited slots in the program. This is because of the unstable nature of software during this test phase.

Limited slots will ensure that a select number of users will be affected in case of an undetected serious device crippling bug slipping in the test update.

The report also noted that Huawei was not among the companies to take part in the initial Android P Beta program back in May 2018. It went on to claim that since that launch of Android 9 Pie update, Huawei “has upgraded more devices” to the latest “Android 9 Pie than any other Android vendor”.

According to the report, this initial phase of the beta program seems to focus on the Chinese market but it is likely that the company will expand the program in the coming weeks to add more regions.
