First spotted by leakster Roland Quandt, the video teaser doesn t reveal the device s name outright but Huawei Mate is mentioned indicating that it is indeed the Mate 10. Shared on Huawei s German YouTube channel, the video focuses on the Mate 10 s dual-camera module. First off, the teaser shows off the Mate 10 s camera with sample photos highlighting its motion and focus. The teaser also reveals the dual-camera setup, which is a pair of 12-megapixel RGB sensor, and a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. Carrying on the tradition, the cameras on the Mate 10 are Leica branded.
It s worth noting that the same dual-camera setup is found on the predecessor, Mate 9 and the Huawei P10 as well. The Mate 9 comes with camera features such as dual-core ISP, depth measurement ISP, and professional DSP for better image focusing speeds and processing. The Huawei P10 boasts features like Huawei Hybrid Zoom (2x), 4-in-1 Hybrid Auto-Focus, and Natural Bokeh Effect. Huawei will most likely introduce more advanced camera features on the Mate 10.
While the dual-camera module on the Mate 10 would be its presumed highlight, its chipset is also one to look out for. The smartphone is expected to debut the in-house Kirin 970 SoC, which is said to be the Snapdragon 835 s competitor. A recent leak revealed that the Kirin 970 SoC will house an octa-core CPU, with four Cortex A-73 cores clocked at 2.8GHz, and four Cortex-A53 cores with unknown frequency. For memory, it could come with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. On the software front, it will possibly run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.
