Huawei is rumored to be working on the Mate 10, which will be the successor to the Mate 9 smartphone. Rumors have it that the Huawei Mate 10 will be powered by a chipset built on the newer 10nm fabrication process. A Taiwan supply chain reveals that the smartphone will sport a full-screen display like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. It is expected that there will be a 6-inch (2160x1080p) 18:9 full active display from JDI and will be powered by Huawei’s own 10nm HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC. The new chipset is said to be at par with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC and Samsung Exynos 8895. The Kirin 970 SoC is said to have a composition with Cortex-A73 cores, similar to the 960 SoC which already powers the Huawei P10. One of the interesting features speculated for the smartphone is its use of 3D sensing dual camera with augmented reality features, GSMArena reports. It is worth mentioning that the upcoming Apple iPhone 8 is also rumored to feature a 3D sensing camera with support for augmented reality. In the past, there have been rumors about the Huawei Mate 10 not only having a dual camera module at the back but also on the front, which will take the total number of camera sensors to four. Such a setup will be similar to the Gionee S10 smartphone which is currently available only in China and expected to soon make it to the Indian market. Other specifications include a fingerprint sensor which could be embedded into the home button, while on the software front, it is likely to run the newer Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.
In comparison, the Huawei Mate 9 is equipped with a 5.9-inch full HD (1920*1080 pixels) display and powered by the Kirin 960 octa-core 1.8GHz processor paired with 4GB of RAM. It includes 64GB/128GB of internal storage which can be further expanded via microSD card. For photography, it includes a pair of 20-megapixel + 12-megapixel dual-camera on the back and up front, there is an 8-megapixel camera. Connectivity options on the Huawei Mate 9 include 4G LTE with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
