Chinese smartphone maker Huawei is set to launch its second-half flagship, the Mate 20 series, at an event in London today. The Mate 20 series is expected to include three models, the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20X, and it will take on other flagship smartphones like the Google Pixel 3 XL, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Apple iPhone XS.

Huawei Mate 20 series is expected to bring major changes when compared to its predecessor. It is likely to build on the design of Huawei P20 Pro, announced early this year and bring it some hardware enhancements. Huawei Mate 20 Launch: What we know so far
Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will be the first smartphones powered by company’s Kirin 980 SoC, which is among the first to be fabricated using new 7nm process. The leaked renders so far suggest that the Mate 20 series will feature a wider notch similar to that of iPhone X and support new facial recognition system. There are also reports of the Mate 20 series packing an in-display fingerprint sensor in case you don’t trust the Face ID mechanism.
In terms of design, the Mate 20 series is expected to feature metal and glass sandwich design similar to other flagships and will support wireless charging. The leaked renders have also shown the Leica-branded triple rear camera setup on the back and it is believed to be arranged in the form of a square instead of a straight line seen on the P20 Pro.
Huawei Mate 20 Pro: Leaked Specifications and Pricing
Among all the device launching today, the Mate 20 Pro seems to be the most interesting of the pack since it is expected to feature the newest innovation from the company. The Mate 20 Pro is expected to feature a 6.39-inch OLED display with a resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels. It will be powered by octa-core Kirin 980 CPU coupled with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB storage.
There will be a triple rear camera setup comprising of a primary 40-megapixel wide-angle sensor, a 20-megapixel telephoto sensor and a new 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle sensor. There are also reports of Huawei introducing a new type of flash storage that will look similar to a nano SIM card. Huawei Mate 20 Pro is said to be backed by a 4,200mAh battery and support SuperCharge 2.0 fast charge technology.
According to a report on WinFuture, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro will be available at a starting price of €999 for the base model with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage in Europe. It will be available in black, blue and green color variants and Huawei will, of course, offer a twilight color option as well.
Huawei Mate 20X rumors and other devices
Huawei Mate 20X is said to be the third device this year and it is tipped to include support for stylus. If this turns out to be true then we are looking a Galaxy Note 9 competitor from Huawei. There are also reports of Huawei introducing a 40W superfast charger alongside Freebuds 2 truly wireless earbuds and Huawei Watch during the event.
