The Mate 8 will be the successor to the popular Mate 7 that came equipped with a 6-inch display, a 13-megapixel camera and a snappy fingerprint reader among other hardware. There were some leaked specifications that surfaced online, but they conflicted with the Mate S that has already been released. Huawei Mate 8 specifications and features: Based on the rumored specification, the Mate 8 is expected to sport a 6-inch QHD display running at a resolution of 2560x1440pixels. Under the hood, the smartphone could be powered by Huawei’s Kirin 950 SoC with 16nm FinFET fabrication process and a big.LITTLE architecture. It’s expected to be an octa-core processor comprising of four 2.4GHz Cortex-A72 cores and four 2.0GHz Cortex-A53 cores, which could easily compete with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 and Samsung’s Exynos 7420 SoCs. The processor is expected to be paired with Mali-T880 GPU paired with a Tensilica Hi-Fi 4 audio chip and either 3GB or 4GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the smartphone could come bundled with either 32GB or 64GB of onboard storage. For photography lovers, the smartphone could sport a 21-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. Connectivity features such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac and 4G LTE are also expected to be present.
Based on the rumors, the Huawei Mate 8 with 3GB of RAM could be priced around $520 (approximately Rs 33,500), whereas the one with 4GB of RAM could be priced around $610 (approximately Rs 40,000). There is no word on the availability and release date yet, but it is expected to launch sometime before the end of this year. As these are just leaked specifications, we advise you to take this with a proverbial pinch of salt.
