Huawei Mate 9 Lite specifications
The smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch FHD (1080p resolution) display with a 2.5D curved glass on top. At the heart the smartphone is powered by an octa-core (4 x 2.1GHz + 4 x 1.7GHz) Kirin 655 processor. The smartphone is however available in two variants – 3GB RAM with 32GB of internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB ROM. In the Mate 9 Lite, the company has again shifted the fingerprint scanner to the back. Huawei had moved the fingerprint sensor from the back of the phone to the front in the Mate 9 Pro.
On the photography front, the smartphone sports a dual rear camera setup without the Leica branding. The camera now comes with a 12-megapixel + 2-megapixel camera. The main 12-megapixel sensor has 1.25nm pixels. The camera comes with dual-core ISP, depth measurement ISP and professional DSP for better image focusing speeds and processing. It also comes with phase detection autofocus that the company claims works in 0.3 seconds. In the front, there’s a secondary 8-megapixel selfie shooter.
Armed with 3,340mAh battery, the smartphone weighs 162 grams and comes with 150.9 x 76.2 x 8.2 mm as the dimension of the phone. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 4G LTE with VoLTE voice calling support, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. On the software front, it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box wrapped under Emotion UI 4.1, which is a downgrade because the Mate 9, Mate 9 Porsche Design and Mate 9 Pro run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
Last week the company also launched the Mate 9 Pro in China. The Huawei Mate 9 Pro is a tweaked version of the Mate 9 Porsche Design, after removing the premium design and high price tag. It comes with a 5.5-inch dual-edge curved AMOLED Quad HD (2560×1440 pixels) display. It is powered by a Kirin 960 chipset octa-core processor which features four Cortex A73 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. There is a microSD card slot to further expand the onboard storage.
On the photography front, the Mate 9 Pro is equipped with one 12-megapixel RGB color sensor and a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. The camera also supports 4K video recording capabilities. The smartphone is armed with 4,000mAh non-removable battery along with fast-charging feature. It also includes connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 4G LTE with VoLTE voice calling support, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. On the software front, it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
