Huawei has refreshed its MateBook D notebook with an updated processor and GPU configuration. The Chinese company had launched the MateBook D alongside the MateBook E and MateBook X early this year and the refreshed version is called the MateBook D (2018). The new MateBook D (2018) features a metal unibody design similar to its predecessor and measures 16.9mm at its thickest point. It sports a 15.6-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and has slim borders surrounding the display. The base model of MateBook D (2018) comes with 8th generation Intel Core i5-8250U processor with 8GB RAM and can be configured with either 256GB SSD storage or 1TB hard disk drive. The top-end MateBook D (2018) comes with Intel Core i7-8550U CPU, 8GB RAM, option for either 1TB hard disk drive or 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD hybrid drive and discrete NVIDIA GeForce MX150 GPU.
Huawei MateBook D (2018) packs a 43.3Wh battery which the company claims can last up to 10 hours or provide up to 8.5 hours of video playback. As far as ports are concerned, the MateBook D (2018) includes two USB 3.0 port, one USB 2.0 port and an HDMI port. It also comes equipped with Dolby’s panoramic speaker system and connectivity options include dual-antenna WiFi and Bluetooth 4.1.
The MateBook D (2018) features a 1MP camera for video calling and Huawei says the anti-glare has been tweaked to offer eye protection. The notebook weighs around 2kg and comes with a lightweight power adapter that weighs only 175 grams.
Depending upon the model, the MateBook D (2018) comes with either Windows 10 Home or Professional Edition. The laptop starts at 5,188 Yuan (approximately Rs 52,000) for the base model with Core i5, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD storage. The top variant with Core i7 processor is priced at 6,688 Yuan (approximately Rs 67,000). The notebooks are now available for purchase in China but there is no word on its global availability just yet.
