Earlier this year in April, Huawei unveiled the MediaPad M5 tablet in 8.4-inch and 10.8-inch display variants, and the MediaPad M5 Pro with a 10.8-inch display. Among the three, the MediaPad M5 will soon be getting an update which will bring Huawei’s GPU Turbo technology to the tablet. The update will roll out later this month.
According to a leaked poster on Weibo, the GPU Turbo tech will allow graphics intensive games to run smoother, thanks to software and hardware optimization it brings. At the time of announcing the GPU Turbo tech, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor mentioned that it will increase the graphics processing by 60 percent, while reducing the energy consumption by 30 percent. This will allow users to play graphics intense games without affecting the battery life.

Honor also mentioned that the GPU Turbo tech will offer virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) support. It can be helpful industries such as telemedicine and shopping. Besides the MediaPad M5, the GPU Turbo update will be rolling out to a bunch of smartphones – Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro and Honor View 10, Huawei P20, P20 Pro, Huawei RS Porsche Design, Huawei Nova 2S, Honor 10.
Huawei will then be rolling out the update for the Nova 3e, Enjoy 8 Plus, Enjoy 7S, Mate 10 Lite, Honor 9 Lite, and the Honor 7X in August, followed by the Mate 9 Series in September this year. Lastly, the P10, P10 Plus, P10 Lite, Honor 9 and Honor 8 Pro will get the update in November.
