Huawei Nova 3 vs OnePlus 6 vs Zenfone 5Z: Price in India, specifications and featured compared

The Huawei Nova 3 comes with four cameras and GPU Turbo mode. Here’s how it fares against the competition.

Earlier today, Huawei introduced two new smartphones in India, the Nova 3 and Nova 3i. Both smartphones come with a total of four cameras: two at the front and two at the back. The smartphones also come with GPU Turbo mode which Huawei says helps in improving the graphics performance while reducing the power consumption. The Nova 3 will take on the likes of the Asus Zenfone 5Z and the OnePlus 6. Here’s how they compare based on their prices, specifications and features.

Price in India and availability

The Huawei Nova 3 is priced at Rs 34,999 for the single 6GB RAM / 128GB storage variant and will be available starting August 23 via Amazon India. The OnePlus 6 is offered in three storage variants – Rs 34,999 for 64GB variant, Rs 39,999 for 128GB variant and Rs 43,999 for 256GB storage in Mirror Black finish. The Asus smartphone, on the other hand, is offered in three storage variants – 64GB storage one priced at Rs 29,999, 128GB variant priced at Rs 32,999 and 256GB variant priced at Rs 36,999. Clearly, the Zenfone 5Z is the most affordable of the lot. While the OnePlus 6 is exclusive to Amazon India, the Zenfone 5Z is available exclusively via Flipkart.

Display and display

All three smartphones come with a metal frame, sandwiched between front and back glass. While the glass back offers a premium look and feel, none of the phones feature the wireless charging feature. And talking about the displays, all three smartphones come with a notch on top that houses proximity sensors, the front camera and ambient light sensor.

While the Zenfone 5Z comes with Full HD+ display and 19:9 aspect ratio, the Nova 3 comes with a Full HD+ display and a 19.3:9 aspect ratio. The OnePlus 6 is equipped with a 6.28-inch AMOLED panel, whereas the Zenfone 5Z is equipped with a 6.2-inch LCD panel. Huawei’s Nova 3 comes with a 6.3-inch panel, which is the largest of the devices here.

Processor, RAM and storage

Both the Zenfone 5Z and the OnePlus 6 run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with octa-core CPU, paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB onboard storage (on their starting variants). Both smartphones also come with 8GB RAM with 128GB / 256GB storage variants. The Nova 3, on the other hand, is powered by Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC with an octa-core CPU, 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. And while the OnePlus 6 does not feature expandable storage, the Zenfone 5Z and Nova 3 comes with a hybrid slot that allows microSD cards.


All three smartphones feature dual-camera setups at the back, whereas the Nova 3 also comes with a dual-camera setup at the front. The Zenfone 5Z and Nova 3 also include AI scene detection to let you capture better photos.

The Huawei Nova 3 comes with a combination of 16-megapixel primary and a 24-megapixel secondary sensor. Up front, you have a 24-megapixel primary sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The secondary camera allows for adding bokeh effects to your photos, both at the front and back.

The Zenfone 5Z comes with a 12-megapixel primary sensor (f/1.8 aperture lens), and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor (f/2.2 aperture wide-angle lens) with field of view of 120 degrees. For selfies and video calling, it comes with an 8-megapixel sensor. The OnePlus 6 features a 16-megapixel primary camera and a 20-megapixel secondary depth and telephoto sensor. This allows for DSLR-like bokeh effects and 2X lossless optical zoom functionality. Up front is a 16-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling.

Connectivity and security

Huawei, Asus and OnePlus smartphones, all have dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE with VoLTE connectivity, Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. For security, you get fingerprint sensors and face unlock feature on all three smartphones.

Battery and OS

The OnePlus 6 and Zenfone 5Z are armed with a 3,300mAh battery with support for fast charging, whereas the Nova 3 comes with a slightly larger 3,750mAh battery. OnePlus and Huawei smartphones run on Android 8.1 Oreo, whereas the Asus smartphone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo.
